Hermeneutics

The Hermeneutics section focuses on the principles and methods used to interpret Scripture faithfully and responsibly. It serves as a reference resource for ministers, teachers, and students who seek to understand not only what the Bible says, but how meaning is derived from the text according to sound interpretive practice.

Hermeneutics addresses the process of interpretation itself. Scripture was written in specific historical, cultural, linguistic, and literary contexts. Faithful interpretation requires careful attention to those contexts, as well as respect for genre, authorial intent, audience, and the unity of the biblical canon. When these factors are ignored, interpretation becomes subjective and doctrine becomes unstable.

This section explores foundational interpretive principles such as grammatical and historical analysis, literary structure, context, genre, and the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. It also addresses common interpretive errors, methodological assumptions, and the difference between interpretation and application. Emphasis is placed on allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture, rather than imposing external frameworks onto the text.

Use this section as a guide for sermon preparation, Bible study, teaching, and theological inquiry. It is intended to equip those in ministry to handle the Word of God with care, clarity, and accountability. Hermeneutics does not replace faith or dependence on the Holy Spirit, but it disciplines interpretation so that understanding remains anchored in what God has revealed.

This section exists to promote faithful exegesis, doctrinal integrity, and confidence in the interpretation of Scripture, recognizing that how the Bible is read directly shapes what is believed, taught, and practiced within the Church.
