Christian Testimony of Unity: Rejecting Political Division #

If you ask the average Christian, what is a good “Christian testimony” you will hear a list of so many things. Many of them not even in the Bible, but few would quote John 17:23 as the example Jesus set as a good Christian testimony.

Jesus prayed “I in them and You in Me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them even as You loved Me.” (John 17:23 ESV)

We were never called to divide because of politics. Yet many unbelievers look at the Church and see a fractured body. They see us trading the gospel for political tribalism. They hear our careless words, our social media tirades, and our shouting matches, and they walk away convinced that Jesus is just another mascot for an earthly agenda.

The Idolatry of Political Loyalty #

This is not just a distraction. It is spiritual malpractice. It is idolatry with eternal consequences.

Let’s consider the truth about our Lord: #

  1. Jesus came to build His Father’s Kingdom!

  2. Politicians do not govern or rule that Kingdom!

  3. Jesus never endorsed a political party or leader!

  4. He pointed only to the Father, the Spirit, and Himself as the source of hope!

  5. He said poverty would always be among us (Matthew 26:11).

  6. He submitted to earthly authority and paid His taxes.

  7. He never fought for or against a political system!

  8. Politics were never part of His mission!

It is God who raises up both righteous and wicked rulers. No party, policy, or president can carry the weight of our worship. When we pledge loyalty to a political kingdom above the Kingdom of God, we are not being prophetic; we are being unfaithful.

Speaking Truth With Humility #

Now, to the brother or sister who says, “But I must speak, because one side is more evil than the other,” hear this:

Yes, there is evil. And yes, we must discern. But evil is not confined to one side. It is in every human system and heart. If you feel called to speak truth into culture, do so with humility, not hostility!

“For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”(James 1:20).

Let your convictions be shaped by Christ, not cable news. Let your speech drip with grace, not venom. And let the world know you serve a King, not a party.

Guarding The Witness of The Church #

Right and wrong are not defined by political affiliations. They are written on the heart of every human being. And every party, every politician, and every platform is tainted with sin. To stake our witness on them is to build on sand.

The world hears us. And when we sound more like campaign managers than ministers of reconciliation, we misrepresent the Gospel. We cast stumbling blocks before unbelievers. We obscure the love of Christ with the fog of partisanship.

And let us not forget the warning of Jesus: “On the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.” (Matthew 12:36)

Our responsibility is weighty. Our allegiance is not to flags, votes, or parties. It is to a crucified and risen King whose Kingdom is not of this world.

We are not campaigners. We are not culture warriors. #

We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ. #

This article centers the focus phrase Christian testimony and anchors it in John 17:23. It calls believers to unity in Christ, to reject political division, and to speak with humility for the sake of gospel witness.
